The Government Affairs Department is dedicated
to creating and maintaining a healthy legislative
and regulatory business environment for our REALTOR®
members. This goal can be achieved by development
of a pro-active legislative agenda, support of
an active legislative committee, and encouragement
of members to develop personal relationships with
legislators and become politically active.
HAR's legislative and political action programs
promote private property rights, freedom of choice
in housing, and benefit the real estate industry
(and our clients) by influencing public policy
and regulatory agencies. We believe that the political
stability and economic prosperity of the State
of Hawai'i is dependent in large measure upon the
right of the individual to own and freely transfer
real property and to exercise and enjoy the benefits
of home ownership.
Among the services provided by the Government
Affairs Department is the staffing for the HAR
Government Affairs Committee, the REALTORS® Political
Action Committee (RPAC), the Grassroots Communication
Program (CapWiz), and the Political Communications
Network (A Day at the Capitol). During
election years, the Government Affairs Staff will
schedule interviews with candidates for state
office.
