The
State Political Coordinator (SPC) program is an
organized, proactive, and strategic grassroots
advocacy program of the Hawai‘i Association of
REALTORS®. The purpose of the program is to build
strong on-going relationships with key state
legislators in positions important to achieving
the policy goals and objectives of HAR.
SPC’s are the "Voice for Real Estate" in Hawai‘i
with their designated state legislator. The most
important aspect of being an SPC is having a
positive and personal relationship with an elected
official that promotes a sense of mutual respect
and familiarity. Remember: relationship first,
lobbying second. When a key issue is being
introduced by HAR or is being considered in
committee or on the floor, SPC’s are mobilized to
relay HAR’s position to their designated
legislator.
The foundation of this network is the belief
that by working together - as a hui - REALTORS®
can have a profound influence in shaping public
policy. In the long run - by generating quality
contacts with each of the 76 members of the
Hawai‘i State legislature, the REALTOR® message
will undoubtedly be heard.
